50-40

50. Hardly Getting Over it - Hüsker Dü (Candy Apple Grey - 1986)

This song is purely about how you will go through tons of crappy times which will bring you to a very low place, but you somehow have to carry on.

49. When I Come Around - Green Day (Dookie - 1994)

The image of billy joe armstrong pushing the payphone off the hook is forever burnt into my brain as the greatest sign of teenage rebellion (And apathy for that matter)

48. Say It Ain't So - Weezer (Weezer - 1994)

As the great Ray Mailman once stated "every guitar player goes through a phase where say it ain't so is there favourite song". I had that phase.

47. Space Oddity - David Bowie (Love You 'Til Tuesday - 1969)

One of the first songs i ever learned on guitar, also contains the best clapping in any rock song ever.

46. Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden (Superunknown - 1995)

When Cornell sings "heaven send hell away" it reminds me of that utter desperation i sometimes go through with God, as a christian

45. Superman's Dead - Our Lady Peace (Clumsy - 1997)

I remember singing this with alex dunsmore in his care and going absolutly crazy during the "doesn't any any any any any any any anybody ever know"

44. If You Could Read My Mind - Gordon Lightfoot (If You Could Read My Mind - 1970)

I think the word "paperback" is insanely fun to sing.

43. One - Metallica (...And Justice For All - 1988)

Every year i try and learn this song and every year i learn a little bit more. Based on the movie Johnny get your gun, the lyrics almost beat the insane solo at the end.

42. 1979 - Smashing Pumpkins (Mellon Collie Infinite Sadness - 1995)

I remember seeing bald billy corgan for the first time when i was 9 or 10 years old and thinking he was the coolest person on the planet. i still think that. Even the lyrics make almost no sense, you still somehow seem to feel what billy is feeling, the remorse for youth.

41. Lovers In A Dangerous Time - Bruce Cockburn (Stealing Fire - 1984)

Sure the barenaked ladies version is sadder, but the techno beat behind the song makes me feel that love and hope go hand in hand

40. Yellow - Coldplay (Parachutes - 2000)

They can pumped out 100 piano ballads a year, but coldplay wil never ever beat this beautiful love song. I do appreciate the fact that all the poets and all the artists and all the philosophers will never ever ever ever be able to tell me what he means when he sings the word "Yellow"

Tune in later for 39-28!

I've come undone

I find that when i take steps away from God -(i don't drift, unless i fall asleep in a canoe) - theres this alarm that goes off in my brain that says YOUR STUPID.

well i feel stupid - but i know it won't last for long
i feel stupid - but it's something that comes and goes
i feel stupid - but i think i've been catching on
(i feel ugly, but i know i still turn you on)

i come undone, in this mad season

Am i more then you bargained for?

So me and my pal Josiah (cool name, eh) have been recording songs like maniacs, we're actually putting on a concert this thursday in the lounge of our residence(have to make posters!).

hopefully we can record ourselves so i can put some more of my stuff up on this blog ( i realised i haven't added to "my songs" in quite a few months)

If you need a happy song right now i suggest:

Santeria

(hope it works for you steve)

I watched love actually with socs. By the way we both reacted to the end of that movie i do think we are the most single people on the planet.

Anyway, i'm gonna go be a hero, just for one day.
(bonus points to those who know which song i'm quoting)

I will follow you into the dark

The blogging plague

Well, i added a whole wack of people to my blog list.
It might just be me, but i only add people to my blog list so that i don't have to actually remember there website addy, i can just click on there name.

meh.

My roomy dennis had his b-day yesturday, so i bought him a dinosaur b-day cake (which i paid with from the money off that tree out back)

It's funny having already been to college, because so many people are experiencing this type of work load for the first time, but for me, i've had it much worse then this (3 cheers for no microeconomics!!!)

So God has truly blessed me.

So i've been trying to think about my spiritual gifts, and i think one of my gifts is that of entertainment. but then i was thinking about church, and what place does entertainment have in church?

Adieu

I wish i was superfly

So i went to the Thousand foot krutch concert. the security dude only stopped me from moshing once. oh yes. i'm cool.

So here i am at school. School is great. I miss Mike Kwak though, he would fit in so awesome here, but alas, God has other things in store for him (whats that evil laugh i hear?)

My roo-m-ate is awesome, he's the biggest guy at the school, and he's in the smallest room. How that worked out i do not know.

So everything is amazing in my life, i'm so glad i came here, and people call me skoch :)

And socs is cool too. shes right beside me. if i spell a word wrong though, she'll look over. (she can smell a typo a mile away)

DRUMROLE...................its fantasy hockey time!!!!!!! aw yeah.

Well, i move tomorrow, so who knows when i'll next get a chance to talk with all you lovely peoples. But if this IS the end, i just want you all to know i love all of you.

So i'm going out to jam with my friends, whom i haven't seen in a few months, and this will most likely be the last time we jam. I guess this is growing up.
I kind of like it.

So until we meet again, your friend,

I never had to knock on wood

Camp Staff 2005

Camp Staff 2004

Camp Staff 2003

Me, Mapex, Peaches, Zippy, Fred, Fil and Biff. That's all that connects 2003 to 2005.

I guess gone are the years where you felt attached to something so much you were willing to take a huge pay cut in order to remain attached.

Flat mass culture, the norm took hold
i hope i die before i get sold.

The words of the prophets are written on the Subway walls

This is my dear friend Dora, who has alot of hair. and she dances, flower in her teeth and all that.

So i'm helping my sister move, which is strange, because i feel like the whole world went out and grew up and a great big hurry.

I'm just about to pay for my tuition and etc, oh my sweet 6,000$, how i'll miss you.

I had a delightfull conversation with this guy a barely know, about the song Judith (by A Perfect Circle). The song was written because Maynard James Keenan's Aunt believed that Faith would heal her, but alas, she died.

What i find interesting about this song is, yes, he's ticked off with God, but i get the impression that he's more angry at faith.

Judith

A flood happens in a small town, so the priest at the local church decides to sit on the roof of his church and wait for God to help him. So a boat comes by, and tells the priest to jump aboard, but the priest says no, God will save me. Some time later another boat comes and tells the priest to jump in the boat, still the priest declares "My God will save me". by this time the water was up to the ankels of the priest, still sitting on the roof of his church, and another boat comes and tells the priest to climb in, but he stills says that God will save him.
So the priest drowns and goes to heaven. So he asks God, why didn't you save me? And God says, i sent three boats!
