So i'm sorry for keeping you (mara) all in suspense. A week ago i wrote out my entire blog then the computer went all funky. So this is try number 2 for post number 100.

5. Apparitions - Matthew Good Band
It wasn't until about 8 months ago that i actually found out what this song is all about. which is funny cause its blaintent. Its about the apparition that we are in complete control of our lives. My old band (the supplicants) used to jam to this song. The solo is so simple, and yet so in your face. Also the video has an odd sense of beauty to it. at least i think so.

4. Hurt - Nine Inch Nails
The thing about this song is that it used to be my little secret. The song i would put on when i felt sad, and it comforted me because i felt that i was the only one in the world who had ever herd this song. Then Johnny Cash went and gave it to the world. Thats ok though, because the nine inch nails version is starting to fell like a secret again.

3. Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
This song is impossible to apply to your life. unless you have a crazy friend, or i guess if you, yourself, are crazy. Still though, its such a sad goodbye to a friend. And its the first song i ever learnt on guitar.

2. Where Is My Mind - Pixies
Usually when a band plays there token song live its awesome. This song sucks live. Its at its best after you've shot yourself through the cheek area, your holding on to the hand of the girl you love staring out the window on the 30th floor as multiple buildings crash down before you. So yeah, go try that.

Dum da di Dum - and now to number one

Today - Smashing Pumpkins
The multiple guitars, billy corgan dressed as an ice cream man, the drug reference as oppose to sexual references. The heroin influence. The not one but 2 bridges. The squealing guitar, the overlapping vocal lines, the fact that its really easy to play. What more could you ask for in a song? nothing, i say. I love how that first 4 note melody is used at the end of the song, it just so.....hard rock. no no, alternative. yeah. what a word. i love the 90's. i love alternative. i love pumpkins.

So there you have it, thank you for those who didn't slin gpoop at my house for not updating.

Since this will probably be my last post for the next while i'll bring you all up to date

1. I work all day. and thats it. my life sucks
2. Oilers lost, thats depressing, losing pronger is insult to inujury. But i look forward to a year in calgary, especially for all the arrogant ignorant flames fans who will continue to inform me about how the 8th seeded team didn't when in the finals when the 3rd placed team choked in the first round. yep oilers suck indeed.
3. I saw system of a down. they where fantastic, i moshed so incredibly hardcore like. Espcially sugar, and violent pornography, and toxicity. And me and sunshine dedicated the prison song mosh to Gord. We Love You Gord ,where ever you are.
4. I have tickets to go see tool on august 25th. some good anti-God music before i go back to school. oh its suiting indeed.
5. Speaking of school i'm actually exicited for the whole student union thingy. Mainly because i'm going to abuse my power. trust me, people wiol know and rever lounge representatives for years to come.

And thats my life.

the Road to Morocco

The oilers never cease to impress me, doing another NHL first yesturday night (first nhl team to ever score shorthanded in overtime in the finals). Oh fernando, you make me so proud. Also, the oilers got 11 out of a possible 12 home games in this playoff run. which accounts for 20 million dollars we otherwise would not have gotten. so yeah! go oilers!

almost done my song list.

10. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
When i was 13 i wrote out all the words to this song, trying to memorize it. also one of the first songs i ever learnt on guitar. also its gorgeous
9. Tuesdays Gone - Lynyrd Skynrd
My all time favourite song to just jam along to, i guess cause its so long. I wish i new someone who could play piano like the guy in skynrd can
8. Little Wing - Jimi Hendrix
I was insanly proud when i learnt how to play this on guitar, its such a beautiful melody. Jimi could make up this wonderful chord voicings that no one has ever been really able to copy.
7. Comfortable Numb - Pink Floyd
Contains the first solo i ever learnt, and a solo that i'm still trying to learn to this day. David Gilmour could do this crazy bends and sustain notes forever, i really like the contrast in the singing of waters-gilmour.
6. Yellow Ledbetter - Pearl Jam
I remember i learnt how to play this song, then i was playing open the eyes in church and i realised that it was the exact same song. Of course yellow ledbetter could kick the crap out of anybody doing open the eyes, but thats just one mans opinion. The solo has such a simple use of the E major pentatonic scale, which is probably way it rocks, its so simple.

Only one more post, then i'm done

Also i'm at 64 on the afi movie list. (plus i have chinatown and all about eve just waiting to be watched).

Also resident evil 4 scares the bajabers out of me.

Oilers won last night. Oh the oilers, you put my heart in such a state. I'm so glad i'm an Oiler fan. We burn things on whyte ave. Other mayors talk about how our behaviour is disgusting, but we don't care. and even if the oilers lose, i'll stand by them, cause i always have. and maybe i'll burn some stuff too.
