I Bleed Copper and Gold

Imagine, if your a maple leafs fan, if you lost mats sundin, or calgary if you lost jerome iginla and langkow. If your a senators fan, maybe you just lost alfredson, or for montreal if you lost koivu. or if your from vancouver, well you probably hate your team so it doesn't matter.

Maybe now you have a small, very very tiny glimpse of what Edmonton is now feeling with the loss of our favourite son. The devastation that is sweeping through my city shoots a sharp feeling of pain and sadness whenever i think about it.

So this i plead, don't make fun of us, or remind us of our loss, we're trying very very hard not to think about. Because you all must understand, we are a small northern city that does not play a large part in global affairs, and receives very little recognition for whatever it is we are doing so far north, and when our little town produces a hockey team that does well, i dare say it gives us reason to breath. And when we lose a part of that hockey team, we also lose part of our reason to breath.

Maybe thats sad, maybe its stupid that Edmontonians raised money out of our own pockets in order to keep our beloved oilers in the city back in 1998. but i guarentee you this, win or lose theres not a single person who would ever ask for that money back. I am an edmontonian, i love the oilers.

P.S. nobody is allowed to be mad at Kevin Lowe, there is no one that loves the oilers more then him, he was our first draft pick, he scored our first goal, he's been a player, assitant coach, coach and finally GM. besides, he offered Ryan Smyth 5.4. million dollars. now thats crazy.

odd how that worked out, not a huge flames supporter, but i do admire how they built there team.
